This morning was our screening ultrasound and 20 week appointment. Everything went great! The baby is measuring exactly one week ahead at 21 weeks 1 day. (I'm currently 20 weeks 1 day along.) The heart rate was 144 bpm on both the ultrasound and the doppler. She measured the head, abdomen, femur and looked at the limbs, profile, kidneys, heart, etc. She couldn't get a good look at the heart and with a family history of heart defects (a cousin of mine was born with a hole in his heart and he unfortunately died at 7 months old), they ordered a Level II ultrasound for me with a fetal echocardiogram. I have scheduled that for the first week of May. I'm not worried that they'll find a heart defect but I am glad that they are taking the necessary precautions.

She wasn't able to tell the baby's gender. She said she thought girl but that we should "keep our receipts." Kris and I both think it's a girl but until we have confirmation (yeah, right - that'll be on it's birth day!) we're going to keep thinking we don't know. Maybe the Level II ultrasound will confirm the gender for us.

I'm so relieved we had such great results, especially after waking up last night 3 times with "intestinal issues" and throwing up at 3 am. Yeah, I'm not sure where that all came from but maybe it was nerves. I can relax now.

As soon as I can, I'll scan in the ultrasound pics and put them in the photo album. I also took 20 week belly photos that I'll post along with the 15 week photos from (!) 5 weeks ago.
