Kris is so cute! Last night he finished putting the crib together. He had to put the spring in yet. Then, he put all the bedding on and surprised me. It looks so cute! Now we need to clean up all the cardboard, packaging and stuff. :)

Kicky McGee has been doing lots of gymnastics lately. She's kicking me right now even! Hey, maybe we should name her Kiki! Just kidding!

I think I might have had my first Braxton-Hicks contraction last night (or at least the first that I know about). I woke up around 1:30 am for a potty break (surprise, surprise, right?) and the top half of my belly was hard as a rock. It didn't hurt at all and in my dazed and half asleep state, I just ignored it, did my business and went back to bed. Now that I think about it though - I bet that's what it was!

Today marks 26 weeks pregnant. In only 11 more weeks, Baby Girl will be full-term! Of course most babies, especially first babies, aren't born until 40 weeks or later. But it's fun to know that she could come anytime after that 37 week mark and she would be okay!

A co-worker just stopped by to see how I was doing. As we were talking she asked what we were having because she has a bunch of little boy clothes she wants to give away. I told her I have no problems dressing my little girl in blue. :) You all know I'm not the frilly, pink type, right? I'm at least not a frilly pink everyday person. So, she's going to go through the bag of clothes and take out any stained clothing and then give the rest to me! I told her I'd pay her for them and she said no! She was just going to donate them to something anyway! Awesome! I told her if there was anything in there that was just too boyish, I could give them to my cousin. He and his wife just had a little boy (their first) a couple weeks ago! This is perfect! I'm so excited!

Kris put the crib together last night. I was out with a friend seeing a movie and when I got home he said I couldn't go upstairs yet. He wasn't quite finished. So during commercial breaks of the Timberwolves playoff game (Go T-Wolves!) he would run upstairs to assemble things. Then I was allowed up. Oh. My. God. I love it! It's so beautiful! The color and style are exactly what I wanted. And it's so sturdy! A lot of the cribs we saw at Babies 'R Us and other places seemed so wobbly and they made me nervous, not so much for a newborn but for a jumping 1 year old! This one is rock solid! I love it, I love it, I love it! Now we need to go buy a dresser and bookcase and the room will be complete. Well, it will be complete when the dresser, bookcase, glider with ottoman are all moved in, the painting is done and the room is decorated. We have time though. Three more months of time!

As promised, I uploaded the 25 week belly pictures. Whoa! I have grown in the past 5 weeks! I think my tummy has doubled in size! As always, click on the bunny above to see the photos.

I hit the Target clearance racks again today. I found these cute little striped onesies in pink, purple, green and blue. I also found a couple sleepers. I love bargain shopping like this!

To respond to Auntie Krystle's comment from yesterday - yes, you can feel the baby move from the outside! Kris felt Baby Girl for the first time on Friday night. That was a great birthday present Baby Girl! I don't think he was all that impressed though. I think he was more like, yep, that's what's supposed to happen. :) So, Krystle - maybe she'll do some gymnastics for you on Thursday when we go shopping. And as for the second part of her comment - I'll post the pictures tonight. I promise!

Kris picked up our crib last night. I was babysitting for friends of ours and didn't get home until it was almost bedtime so we didn't put it together. We did take one of the sides out of the box and it's so pretty! The wood is this really pretty cherry (reddish brown) color. I can't wait to get it set up! We're going to set it up all 3 ways (as a full size bed, toddler bed and crib) to make sure we have all the parts necessary. Wouldn't it be awful to try and convert it to a toddler bed or full size bed in a couple years only to discover something's missing and it's too late to get that piece?

Hey - look over there! --> There's 101 days left to go until my due date! We're almost in the double digits!

I have a couple of baby things to mention today. I got a call Friday night saying our crib is in! Kris is going to pick it up today! Yay!

Also, it's official. I'm getting stretch marks on my belly. Two little itty bitty ones are creeping along. Oh well! It was bound to happen!

Baby Girl is very active lately. I read this weekend that between weeks 25 and 28 are the most active times for the baby. This is the time when they have the most room to move around. As they grow bigger, things get a bit cramped in there and they don't move as much. Also at 26 weeks (Thursday) Baby Girl could weigh as much as 2 pounds 3 oz!

It's been quiet around here for a little while. We're in that period of the pregnancy though where everything is kind of quiet. Yesterday was 25 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately the lilypie ticker is down so you may not have known that. Baby Girl keeps moving around in there and I love feeling her kicks. I took some belly shots yesterday and will try to get those uploaded to the photo album this weekend. I'll post a short message when that's done.

My friend Robyn (whose link is over to the right) is on bedrest for the remainder of her pregnancy due to pre-term contractions. Think some good thoughts for her! She's almost 35 weeks so bedrest shouldn't be too long. And Annette (also linked to the right) is doing fabulously in her pregnancy! I am still in awe of her. She's 32 weeks now and has been on strict bedrest since 12 weeks! Only a couple more weeks and the doctors will let her do "modified activity." She's in the home stretch and I'm so happy for her!

Today is Kris's 27th birthday. Happy Birthday Honey! You can see over there to the right --> that we're the same age now! Well, for the next couple weeks anyway and then I'll be older again. :) We're celebrating tonight by watching the Timberwolves game. Go T-Wolves!

Friday night Kris and I went and ordered a glider and ottoman for the baby's room. We were even able to customize it by choosing which wood stain finish and fabric we wanted. I hope it looks nice with the crib!

Kris took all the tape off the nursery walls and the green blocks are so cute! We went and bought paint and brushes to paint the animals. Now, Kris needs to figure out which animals he wants to do and get started. He said he only has 2 that he's happy with but I know I've seen at least six that are absolutely adorable and perfect. Sometimes he's pickier than I am! He's been a little preoccupied lately though with his new football coaching duties. I think he's really enjoying himself which is great! I'm excited for him!

24 week appointment update:

- I passed the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. Yay! This means I do not have gestational diabetes.

- My blood pressure, urine and hemoglobin all checked out okay.

- She measured me and timed the babies heartbeat. She didn't tell me what either of these things were so I'm assuming they were fine.

- We talked about preterm labor - what it is, how to stop it and what to do if it doesn't stop.

- I was given the all clear to go to Chicago in July for the Pampered Chef National Conference. I'll be leaving Sunday July 11th and coming back Wednesday July 14th. I'm driving both ways with 5 other Pampered Chef Consultants from my cluster. They are all mommies and will take good care of me. The nurses just said I should stop every couple hours to stretch and empty my bladder. Can do!

I think that's it! I have my 28 week appt on Friday, June 11th at 8:30am. This will be my first appt with a male doctor. After my 28 week appt, I start every other week appointments. Wow! This is all happening so fast, and yet September still seems like a long time from now.

Other news - I painted the green blocks in the baby's room last night. Kris took some of the tape off this morning and it looks so cute!! I think this weekend, he is going to go shopping for paint for the animals. Everything is running like clockwork and right on schedule!

Here's an interesting article on another benefit of breastfeeding: click here. I'm going to try to breastfeed. I've heard the first six weeks are horrible and that after that things start to go smoother. I've just heard so many reports that breast milk is better nutritionally for a baby than formula is so I'm going to try hard to make this work. Of course, if it doesn't, that's okay too. I was mostly formula-fed (something I discovered recently!) and I seem to be doing okay. I'm not obese. I don't have diabetes and my cholesterol levels have all been fine when checked. But why not try to breastfeed if I can, right?

Today marks 24 weeks pregnant! Happy Viable Day Baby Girl! That's right, at 24 weeks, our baby is legally viable outside the womb. This means that (God forbid) something happened to me (car accident or what not) that they would try to deliver and save the baby. And the baby would have a 50% chance of survival! From here on out, the chances of survival just go up as the baby's lungs develop and mature. All her internal organs are now functioning on their own! How amazing.

Other baby news: Kris has taped off the stripe in the baby's room and I'll probably paint that tonight. It's actually going to be blocks that run in a stripe and in each block will be an animal that Kris paints. I think it's going to be SO CUTE!

Also, this week, I bought our first baby clothes. I bought a cute little purple jumper with a purple and pink flowered onesie underneath it. It's so cute! That was newborn (0-3 month) size. Then yesterday, I also bought 2 little polo-type onesies. They are both white and instead of being a regular onesie, they have 3 buttons that go down the front. They were 6-9 and 9-12 month sizes. I now LOVE the Target clearance racks! I got the purple outfit for less than $4 and the two white onesies were less than $3 each! I'm going to have to keep checking those out each time I'm at Target!

That's all that's new for today. Tomorrow morning I have my 24 week appt with the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. I'll post an update again after that.

Grow strong baby girl - and keep kicking! I love that!

Too funny - just as I wrote keep kicking, she did! :)

Happy Mother's Day to all Mommies, Mommies-To-Be and TTC'ers out there! I had a very nice day. Kris and I started it out at Southdale for the Race for the Cure event. Kris ran the 5K that morning (in under 24 minutes!) and I walked the 5K event a bit later. Then, we ran home to change clothes and grab the dog and headed down to Kris's parents house. It was so nice to see everyone. We had to drive home in the thunderstorm but it wasn't too bad. I even got some Mother's Day gifts! My gift from Kris is a one-hour massage. I'm getting that this coming Saturday with my Mom and Krystle. I can not wait. I love massages! And my friend Mary gave me a beautiful potted plant (Calla Lilies in the prettiest purple color!) and a card on Saturday night. I almost cried when I got that. How sweet is she!?! This week will hopefully be pretty uneventful so don't be surprised if I don't post much. I do have a doctor appointment Friday morning where I'll have the 1 hour glucose tolerance test. Pray that I pass! I don't want to have to go back for the three hour one or end up with Gestational Diabetes!

I forgot to tell you guys last night - they ultrasound measurements estimate that our baby girl weighs 1 pound 5 ounces already! That's great! There are some preemies that are born weighing that little and make it. She's also still measuring about a week ahead or 23 weeks and a few days. Go Baby Girl Grow!

Level II Ultrasound & Fetal Echocardiogram results ahead...

Our baby GIRL has a healthy heart as far as they can tell and they consider me low risk so I am free and clear to continue visiting my regular OB office instead of the perinatology office! Yea! This is the best news we could have hoped for! And we're having a GIRL! The ultrasound technician and the perinatologist both said it looked to them like girls. That's 3 qualified people who have said girl. They all can't be wrong...can they?! :)

We also received 5 photos which I have posted in the album. As always, click the bunny above to see them. I've labeled them all as LevelII...so you can tell which are the new ones and which are the first ones.

Also, yesterday we painted the nursery the yellow color. It looks SO nice! I love it. Now Kris needs to figure out where he would like the green stripe to go (at which height) and we can tape that off and paint it. The crib should be here in about a month so there's no big hurry to get the rest of the painting done right away. We'll just keep working on it slowly.
