I updated the sidebar with Annika's stats and such.
I'll write Annika's birth story soon. I have it written down so I just need to record it here as well. Here's the short version. Annika was born Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at 11:47PM. She weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. Her discharge weight (taken at 24 hours old) was 8 pounds 13 ounces. She did pretty well with holding her birth weight. She took to breastfeeding immediately - like within an hour of birth she was feeding like a champ - lower lip flip and all. We came home Thursday at lunch time. Yesterday we had our first pediatrician appointment. Annika weighed in at 9 pounds even and was 21 inches long. Yay for weight gain! The ped was very impressed and said breastfeeding must be going well. Usually babies regain their birth weight by two weeks old and here she was almost there at 6 days old! We don't have to go back until she's two months old.
Everything is going really well here at home. Kris goes back to work tomorrow so that's when the real adventure begins! Annika sleeps pretty much all day and all night. She's had a couple rough nights (eating almost constantly from 2 to 6 AM) but some really good nights too, like last night. She ate at 11:30PM, 2:30AM and 6AM. I got decent stretches of sleep between there. Hopefully she'll get on that kind of schedule and stay there and then start spacing those out bit by bit until she's sleeping through the night. She's such a good girl!
I'll try to upload more pictures soon.
Oh, one last thing - in case anyone's wondering, we're pronouncing her name as Ah-nick-ah, not Ann-ick-ah. Kris prefers it that way. He thinks it sounds softer.
