Annika had a big and exciting weekend! She had her first play date on Saturday! Four of my co-workers all had baby girls last year (June, July and two in November). We decided we should get them together every couple months to play. Saturday was our first playdate. I think Annika had a good time. She kept staring at the other babies. And I think she thought Jessica's crawling was pretty cool. Unfortunately, it seems my daughter is a bully. :) We lined up the babies on a couch to take pictures. Accidentally, we lined them up in age order. Annika is the middle of these five with Abigail and Emma on her right (the November babies) and Brianna and Jessica on her right. Well, Annika kept trying to grab Emma's head! She kept putting her right arm up and grabbing the top of Emma's head. I was kneeling on the floor in front of the couch trying to take pictures so I would pull her arm down back in front of her. She would immediately put it back on Emma's head. I asked someone to hand me a toy to occupy Annika. Someone handed me Annika's triangle rattle. Yeah, Annika just used it as a weapon and hit Emma in the face with it! The triangle rattle is hard plastic! It didn't seem to phase Emma. She didn't cry or anything, but I felt horrible! I apologized right away. I'll have to teach Annika some manners before the next outing (yeah, right!) or at least give her a softer toy! :) Yes, I know she didn't mean to hit Emma, that she's still working on body control, that you can't teach manners at this young an age, etc. etc. We have two more babies that weren't able to make it. A boy, Alex, also born in June and a boy, Alec, born in December. I'm hoping they can both make it to the next one. We also have another baby due this summer. We're having a population explosion here at work!
Yesterday, Annika got lots of love. She got to see Grandma Pat, Auntie Krystle, Grandma and Grandpa F, Uncle Dusty and Aunt Kim. We went down to our new lot and showed everyone the model home. So far, everything is falling into place. We might be moving this year!
Annika Milestone Update:
Annika can now get up on her hands and knees pretty much at will. She rocks back and forth while up there but hasn't learned yet that her hands and knees can move. She could be crawling by next week (!) or it could be months yet. She's growing so fast!
