Happy Mother's Day to me! And it was a good one. Thank you to all who wished me a Happy Mother's Day. And now - a recap of our weekend:

Saturday was a busy, busy day. We had a showing at 10am and an open house form noon-4pm. This was not a problem, since we had more than enough going on to keep us busy. Saturday morning, we went and picked out our laminate flooring and ceramic tile. We got some really terrific deals too! After that was done, we grabbed some lunch and picked up Auntie Krystle and then dropped Kris off at the new house. He was going to wire the ceiling of the living room for surround sound speakers with his parents help. Annika, Auntie Krystle and I went shopping and ran some errands. After a whirlwind trip to the Mall of America and Target, we dropped Auntie Krystle back off at home and met Kris and his parents at the horse racing track. It was opening weekend with free admission. Kris's cordless drill's battery had died so while it was charging at the model home, he and his parents headed to the nearby track. We stayed only long enough to watch the Kentucky Derby be run on the big screen (and whoa was that a race!) before heading back to the house to finish the last bit of wiring. Then, we headed off to have dinner together with Uncle Dusty and Aunt Kim. Busy! Busy!

Yesterday was a wonderful, wonderful day. We woke up early (really early, like 5:30am early) to head to the Mall of America for the Race for the Cure. We had to pick up Michelle and get parked and to the starting line for the 7:30am gun. We made it with about 15 minutes to spare. Nice. :) After finishing the race, we wandered about for a bit. After dropping Michelle off back at home, we returned to our home. After playing with Annika, showering and relaxing, we ran to the grocery store for some last minute dinner fixings and fresh flowers for me. Then, Kris and Annika took a short nap while I read a book. Auntie Krystle came over around 1:30pm to play with Annika while Kris and I took a motorcycle ride. I haven't been on my bike in a year and a half! I was a little nervous but took to it like, well, like riding a bicycle! I guess I'm just a natural! Ha! We took about a 2 1/2 hour ride, running some errands along the way. When we got home, Annika and I took a long nap together while Kris made dinner. Kris made the most wonderful dinner for us, his parents and brother and sister-in-law. He made prime rib with potatoes and green beans. And he made a grasshopper square ice cream dessert as well. It was so yummy. After dinner and after everyone left, we shared a glass of wine before heading to bed. It was a wonderful, wonderful day.

Two things that were not so wonderful about it though: 1) Annika falling out of bed at 2am. She's fine but Kris and I were scared something fierce. 2) Annika cyring her eyes out when Mommy and Daddy left. We stood in the garage and I cried, until Annika stopped crying a few minutes later. That was so hard to leave my baby when all she wanted was her mommy and daddy. My head knew that she was tired and needed more of a nap but her little head didn't know that. Krystle reported that she and Annika did just fine with only one additional freakout a little while later. Otherwise, they played and cuddled together the whole time. I was relieved to hear this. I would have felt like the WME (Worst Mother Ever) if she had cried the whole time we were gone.
