Annika and I had another busy day today. After church this morning (where Annika charmed the family sitting behind us) we headed home for a couple hours of downtime. Annika was crabby this morning so I was very thankful when she took an early nap. I had to wake her up though so we could leave for our second activity of the day. We went and say the Macy's 8th floor presentation of Mary Poppins with Nana and Great Nana. I've only been to the 8th floor one other time that I can remember so it was fun for me too to see the exhibit. Annika was enchanted by all the different scenes and even tried to climb up into a few of them to join the puppets in the fun. I have a couple pictures that I'll try to share soon. Did you notice that I uploaded a bunch of pictures last week? They're in the Annika #14 album. Anyway, after the exhibit we shopped a bit, looking at the seasonal displays on the 5th floor and wandered through the marketplace on the lower level. Too bad I'm on a budget because there was some adorable things there.

After that outing we headed home to help Daddy prepare dinner. Well, Daddy prepared dinner, Annika played with toys and I cleaned up the kitchen and dining room a little bit. Grandpa and Marcia were coming over for dinner so the house had to be at least a little bit respectable. They were coming over to see Annika's new bedroom now that it's all decorated. It was nice to spend a quiet evening at home with them. And it was nice to treat them to dinner for once. Usually it us at their house with them feeding us each time. Grandpa spent a bunch of time with Annika in her room reading books to her. She kept dragging him up there throughout the evening. I'm sure he didn't mind too much. And I was able to quiz him on what male family names we have. You see, Kris and I are having an awful time trying to come up with a name for Baby Boy. Kris still has a name that he likes that I've vetoed. And we still have that one name that we both like but we don't like how it sounds with our last name. Our biggest problem though is that I like traditional names (think Daniel and Andrew) while Kris likes uncommon names. Annika was a good compromise for us because it's a traditional name (at least in Scandinavia which Kris is 100%) but it's also fairly uncommon. It's social security ranking the year prior to Annika's birth was in the mid 400's. So, here is my plea to all of you - please leave me a comment with any suggestions you have. Think traditional yet uncommon. Please - I'm 31 weeks pregnant today and we have zero contenders right now.

I'm sure I'll think of some others, but some that I liked, that are more traditional (and I like the unusual) would be:
Greyson, Brandon, Baxter, Bailey, Tate (obviously), Alden, Alvin, Tad, Hansel, Avery, Barret, Bevis (hahah, just kidding), Brady, Connor, Dillon, duncan, Elias, Ellis, Everette, Zander.. Oh I love naming babies!

Sorry I can't help you. We still don't really have a name either and we are 37+ weeks.

Thanks Robyn for the suggestions. I'll ask Kris about this list and see if he finds anything he likes.

And Jen! I feel your (naming) pain. I hope you don't go home with a "Baby Boy K" like we will with our "Baby Boy F"!

I personally like older names too- but boy names are just HARD!!! If one of my girls would have been a boy they would have been Jake Andrew - not really old fashion but we loved it... that is the only name I loved...LOL you could also use Delbert! LOL (that was my great-grandfathers name)

Ohh. Go with Zander, only make it Xander, which is short for Alexander Harris. Buffy references abound.
You probably looked at the ssa.gov site for the names, I just thought I'd add a few for you. Tristan, Nathanial (Nate), Zachery (Zach). I thought those sounded nice with Froyum. Or for something really fun, go with #240 from 2004 - Armando. Tee Hee.

Jake Andrew is an excellent name choice mommy2twingirls! I like the name Jacob but it's the most popular name and we already have a Jacob in our family so it has two strikes against it. Boo!

And Amanda - I did think of you when Robyn suggested Zander! Hee! I'll have you know that the name Kris and I like but aren't sure of with our last name is the name of a character in one of my favorite television shows of all time too! I even went to the IMDB cast page for the show to come up with other options for Kris. I got a big eyeroll from Kris on that one! :) And my girl name choice (you know, just in case) is a character name in a different favorite tv show of mine. Kris is constantly teasing me that we are not naming this child after any tv shows. We'll see about that! Ha!

I really like Cameron. In fact, if Mark would allow multi-syllable first names with a last name like Oreschnick, I'd plan on using it in the future. But, feel free to have at it. Just don't go with Holden. I can't hear that name without thinking Holden M'groin.
